The Bible is the inspired Word of God.

God is a Trinity of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Jesus Christ is the Divine Son of God who came in human flesh, died for our sins and rose again.

A person must be born again through faith in Jesus to receive salvation and go to heaven.

Righteousness is God’s standard of living for His people.

In Water Baptism by immersion and the Lord’s Supper.

In the baptism of the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues.

Divine healing is provided for all in Jesus.

In the spiritual unity of all born-again Christians.

Jubilee Church started as a call of God in the heart of Steve Grandy while he was living in Red Bluff, California, about fifty miles from Paradise. Steve served four years in the Navy in Viet Nam. Upon returning home, he worked his way up from a box-boy to a Safeway store manager by the age of twenty seven. He also acquired a college degree in business.

After an amazing conversion experience in 1976, Steve eventually stepped down from the store manager position to go into business for himself. He started two successful businesses, one in the rapidly-expanding electronic video game market of the late seventies and eighties (think PacMan) and the other in silver and gold reclaiming. During this time Steve and his family began attending Cornerstone Church of God in Red Bluff.

Then God called him to the pastorate. As his training and internship with the Church of God drew to a close, Steve and his wife Sandy were praying regarding their next step. They felt they were to pioneer a church, rather than take an existing one. In 1987 they moved their family to Paradise, rented a small hall on Sundays, and planted Jubilee, living for the first couple of years on the sale of Steve’s businesses.

The building Jubilee now occupies was vacant, and the church which owned it made Pastor Steve a generous deal to be able to rent it, which he did in 1988. The change in location and a couple years of hard work making contacts in the community paid off, and the church grew rapidly in the new location.

The nineties were a decade of rapid growth for the congregation. The sanctuary was remodeled and updated to accommodate the increases. By 1999 the pastors and men of the church had also remodeled the children’s facility and built an administration building adjacent to the sanctuary to house the staff needed to run the church.

The success of these projects encouraged the team to consider expanding the existing sanctuary, but the tri-level layout required addressing expensive handicapped access requirements. After consultation and prayer, the church leadership felt it would be more cost effective and attractive to build a new facility.

Pastor Steve has been elected several times by his peers to serve on the State Council of the California-Nevada Church of God. He has also served as a District Overseer and a Regional Elder.

Pastors

Mike and Debbie Christian

Shortly after graduating from college, Mike suffered an industrial accident in which he was injured by a serious concussion. As part of the healing process, Mike hand-copied Bible verses, often for hours at a time. In doing that, he received healing for his brain and began renewing his mind in the things of God. This began his love for the Bible, which reveals itself in his passion for the Word of God and depth of insight as a Bible teacher. Mike came to Jubilee in 1989. He met Debbie at Jubilee, and they were married in 2002. They have two married sons, Ryan and Devin, two wonderful daughters-in-law, and two grandsons. Pastor Mike’s interests range from Bible teaching to computers, graphic design, book publishing, audio and video production, and building construction. His hobbies include photography and gardening.
